16.He led David down, and there they were, scattered over the countryside, eating, drinking and reveling because of the great amount of plunder they had taken from the land of the Philistines and from Judah. 17.David fought them from dusk until the evening of the next day, and none of them got away, except four hundred young men who rode off on camels and fled. 18.David recovered everything the Amalekites had taken, including his two wives. 19.Nothing was missing: young or old, boy or girl, plunder or anything else they had taken. David brought everything back. 20.He took all the flocks and herds, and his men drove them ahead of the other livestock, saying, “This is David’s plunder.” 21.Then David came to the two hundred men who had been too exhausted to follow him and who were left behind at the Besor Ravine. They came out to meet David and the people with him. As David and his men approached, he greeted them. 22.But all the evil men and troublemakers among David’s followers said, “Because they did not go out with us, we will not share with them the plunder we recovered. However, each man may take his wife and children and go.” 23.David replied, “No, my brothers, you must not do that with what the LORD has given us. He has protected us and handed over to us the forces that came against us. 24.Who will listen to what you say? The share of the man who stayed with the supplies is to be the same as that of him who went down to the battle. All will share alike.” 25.David made this a statute and ordinance for Israel from that day to this. 26.When David arrived in Ziklag, he sent some of the plunder to the elders of Judah, who were his friends, saying, “Here is a present for you from the plunder of the LORD’s enemies.” 27.He sent it to those who were in Bethel, Ramoth Negev and Jattir; 28.to those in Aroer, Siphmoth, Eshtemoa 29.and Racal; to those in the towns of the Jerahmeelites and the Kenites; 30.to those in Hormah, Bor Ashan, Athach 31.and Hebron; and to those in all the other places where David and his men had roamed.

Meditation. 은혜를 차별하지 말라
다윗은 잃어버렸던 백성들과 가축들을 남김없이 되찾고(19절), 전리품까지 덤으로 얻는 큰 은혜를 받는다(20절). 그러나 다윗의 부하들은 함께하지 못했던 이백 명의 남은 부하들(30:10)을 차별하려 한다. 함께하지 않았으니 자격이 없다는 것이다. 다윗은 갈등으로 분열되는 백성들의 마음을 하나님의 은혜에 집중하게 함으로써 다시 하나로 묶는다. 다윗과 부하들이 아말렉에게서 승리한 것은 전적으로 하나님의 보호와 아말렉을 다윗의 손에 넘기셨기 때문이라는 것이다. 따라서 하나님이 은혜로 주신 것을 독점하고 지체를 차별하는 것은 있을 수 없는 일이다. 다윗은 모든 이들에게 전리품을 골고루 나눌 뿐 아니라, 자신을 정서적으로 지원하고 응원했던 주변 유다 성읍들에도 선물을 보낸다.
나는 오늘 나의 나됨이 전적으로 하나님의 은혜임을 고백하는가? 그럼에도 나는 하나님이 거저 주신 은혜로 사람을 차별하진 않았는가? 내게 주신 은혜를 어떻게 주변 사람들과 골고루 풍성하게 나눌 수 있겠는가?
