Meditation. 사람의 40년, 하나님의 40년
공회 앞에서 스데반의 대답은 시나브로 설교가 되고 있다. 더욱이 ‘때’(17, 20, 26절)의 모티프와 ‘사십’(23, 30, 36절)이라는 숫자의 패턴이 눈에 띈다. 역사의 주관자이신 하나님이 어떻게 시간을 섭리하시는지 모세의 생애를 통해 변증하면서 누구의 때를 살아야 하는지를 역설한다. 특히 모세가 40이 되던 때(23절)에 행했던 일들과 하나님이 섭리하신 40년이 찼을 때(30절) 이루어진 일들을 대비시킨다. ‘되는 때’(23절)와 ‘차는 때’(30절)가 있다. 이 시간의 섭리를 깨달은 모세는 그 후 40년을 순종하며 광야로 백성들을 이끌어 갔다고 논증한다(36절). 또한 스데반은 그 논리 전개 속에서 모세를 통해 예수 그리스도에 대한 복선을 깐다. ‘나와 같은 선지자’(37절)라는 개념을 내어놓으며 예수 논증(52절)을 위한 포석(布石)을 둔다.
나의 때가 되었다고 시작해서는 안 된다. 하나님의 때가 찰 때를 기다려야 한다. 하나님의 주권적 섭리 하에 인생의 모든 때를 맡겨야 한다. 하나님의 시간 섭리 안에는 실수도 없고, 허송세월도 없다. 지금 당신은 누구의 시간을 살고 있는가?
