11그리스도께서는 장래 좋은 일의 대제사장으로 오사 손으로 짓지 아니한 것 곧 이 창조에 속하지 아니한 더 크고 온전한 장막으로 말미암아 12염소와 송아지의 피로 하지 아니하고 오직 자기의 피로 영원한 속죄를 이루사 단번에 성소에 들어가셨느니라 13염소와 황소의 피와 및 암송아지의 재를 부정한 자에게 뿌려 그 육체를 정결하게 하여 거룩하게 하거든 14하물며 영원하신 성령으로 말미암아 흠 없는 자기를 하나님께 드린 그리스도의 피가 어찌 너희 양심을 죽은 행실에서 깨끗하게 하고 살아 계신 하나님을 섬기게 하지 못하겠느냐 15이로 말미암아 그는 새 언약의 중보자시니 이는 첫 언약 때에 범한 죄에서 속량하려고 죽으사 부르심을 입은 자로 하여금 영원한 기업의 약속을 얻게 하려 하심이라 16유언은 유언한 자가 죽어야 되나니 17유언은 그 사람이 죽은 후에야 유효한즉 유언한 자가 살아 있는 동안에는 효력이 없느니라 18이러므로 첫 언약도 피 없이 세운 것이 아니니 19모세가 율법대로 모든 계명을 온 백성에게 말한 후에 송아지와 염소의 피 및 물과 붉은 양털과 우슬초를 취하여 그 두루마리와 온 백성에게 뿌리며 20이르되 이는 하나님이 너희에게 명하신 언약의 피라 하고 21또한 이와 같이 피를 장막과 섬기는 일에 쓰는 모든 그릇에 뿌렸느니라 22율법을 따라 거의 모든 물건이 피로써 정결하게 되나니 피흘림이 없은즉 사함이 없느니라 23그러므로 하늘에 있는 것들의 모형은 이런 것들로써 정결하게 할 필요가 있었으나 하늘에 있는 그것들은 이런 것들보다 더 좋은 제물로 할지니라 24그리스도께서는 참 것의 그림자인 손으로 만든 성소에 들어가지 아니하시고 바로 그 하늘에 들어가사 이제 우리를 위하여 하나님 앞에 나타나시고 25대제사장이 해마다 다른 것의 피로써 성소에 들어가는 것 같이 자주 자기를 드리려고 아니하실지니 26그리하면 그가 세상을 창조한 때부터 자주 고난을 받았어야 할 것이로되 이제 자기를 단번에 제물로 드려 죄를 없이 하시려고 세상 끝에 나타나셨느니라 27한번 죽는 것은 사람에게 정해진 것이요 그 후에는 심판이 있으리니 28이와 같이 그리스도도 많은 사람의 죄를 담당하시려고 단번에 드리신 바 되셨고 구원에 이르게 하기 위하여 죄와 상관 없이 자기를 바라는 자들에게 두 번째 나타나시리라

11When Christ came as high priest of the good things that are already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not man-made, that is to say, not a part of this creation. 12He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption. 13The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. 14How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God! 15For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance–now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant. 16In the case of a will, it is necessary to prove the death of the one who made it, 17because a will is in force only when somebody has died; it never takes effect while the one who made it is living. 18This is why even the first covenant was not put into effect without blood. 19When Moses had proclaimed every commandment of the law to all the people, he took the blood of calves, together with water, scarlet wool and branches of hyssop, and sprinkled the scroll and all the people. 20He said, “This is the blood of the covenant, which God has commanded you to keep.” 21In the same way, he sprinkled with the blood both the tabernacle and everything used in its ceremonies. 22In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. 23It was necessary, then, for the copies of the heavenly things to be purified with these sacrifices, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. 24For Christ did not enter a man-made sanctuary that was only a copy of the true one; he entered heaven itself, now to appear for us in God’s presence. 25Nor did he enter heaven to offer himself again and again, the way the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood that is not his own. 26Then Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But now he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself. 27Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, 28so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

도움말.
자기의 피로(12절).예수님께서는 죄에 대한 영원한 효력이 있는 궁극적인 희생 제사로 자기 자신을 드리심. 예수님께서 레위 제사장보다 높으신 이유도 그분이 쏟으신 피의 귀중함에 있음.
새 언약의 중보자(15절).그리스도의 희생적 죽음이 하나님께서 약속하신 새 언약의 근거임을 말함.
영원한 기업의 약속(15절).믿는 모든 사람들에게 하나님의 나라가 유산으로 주어질 것을 의미함.
명하신 언약의 피(20절).이 말은 예수께서 최후의 만찬에서 ‘나의 피 곧 언약의 피니라’라고 하신 말씀과 유사함. 옛 언약은 새 언약을 준비하기 위한 예표적 성격을 지님.
자기를 바라는 자들에게(28절).열렬한 기대와 간절한 열망을 의미함.

Meditation
옛 언약에 따라 속죄일에 드려진 짐승의 피는 인간이 지은 모든 죄의 문제를 완전히 해결할 수 없었습니다. 그러나 예수 그리스도께서는 구약의 불완전하고 반복적인 제사법을 개혁하시기 위해 장래 좋은 일의 대제사장으로 이 땅 위에 오셨습니다. 예수님께서는 첫 언약 때에 범한 죄에서 인간을 속량하시려고 오직 자신의 피로 영원한 속죄를 단번에 이루셨습니다. 죄에 매여 종노릇하던 인간은 예수님의 십자가로 말미암아 구원을 얻었고, 죄와 죄책의 속박으로부터 참된 자유를 얻었습니다. 예수님께서는 새 언약의 중보자가 되시고, 언약의 피가 되셔서 성도가 하나님께 나아갈 수 있는 유일한 길이 되십니다. 그 결과 성도는 그리스도와 함께 영원한 기업인 하나님 나라를 약속받게 됐습니다(15절). 예수님께서는 지금도 하나님의 보좌 앞에서 성도를 위해 친히 간구하십니다(24절). 성도의 소망과 믿음의 담대함은 바로 그리스도의 십자가 보혈에 있습니다. 오늘도 오직 예수님을 간절히 바라며, 십자가 사랑과 구원의 은혜에 감사하는 삶을 살아가길 바랍니다. 나를 구원하기 위해 아낌없는 사랑을 주신 예수님을 사랑하고, 주님께 영광 돌리는 삶을 살게 하소서.
