Meditation.
하나님의 명령을 따라 20세 이상 싸움에 나갈 만한 이스라엘 백성을 계수해 보니 그 수가 60만 3,550명이었습니다(45~46절). 이 수는 모세와 아론의 힘만으로 통솔하기 어려운 규모였습니다. 그래서 하나님께서는 싸움에 나갈 만한 자를 계수할 때, 이들에게 각 지파를 대표하는 열두 지휘관을 붙여 주셨습니다(44절). 물론 지파별 지휘관 한 명이 계수할 인원 역시 적지 않았습니다. 하지만 모세가 반복해서 이 일을 자세히 기록한 이유를 묵상해 보면, 하나님께서 명령하신 인구 조사는 반드시 해야 할 일이었으며, 힘들어도 감당해야 할 일임을 알 수 있습니다. 사실 각 지파에서 뽑힌 지휘관에게도 감당하기 벅찬 규모였지만, 이들은 모두 하나님의 말씀이기에 순종하며 동역합니다. 누구든지 자신의 용량을 초과하는 일을 감당하기란 쉽지 않습니다. 하지만 말씀에 순종하겠다는 자세로 맡은 사역을 감당하다 보면, 하나님의 방법대로 감당할 수 있는 능력을 공급받게 됩니다. 신실하신 하나님의 말씀에 언제나 믿음으로 반응하는 자녀가 되도록 노력합시다. 내게 맡겨진 사명을 하나님께서 허락하신 방법대로 온전히 감당하게 하소서.
